Day by day

  1. Day 1: Arrive and drive up to Gangtok

    about 120 km, 4½ to 5 hrs Night in Gangtok

    We meet you at NJP or Bagdogra and drive up to Gangtok. The evening is free on M.G. Marg.

  2. Day 2: Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir

    about 55 km each way Night in Gangtok

    A morning at Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir; Nathu La can be added for Indian nationals on its open days. The afternoon is free. We use this day to collect the North Sikkim permit.

  3. Day 3: Gangtok to Lachung

    about 6 to 7 hrs Night in Lachung

    North along the Teesta past the Seven Sisters and Naga waterfalls to Lachung, a village of wooden houses beneath cliffs and falls.

  4. Day 4: Yumthang valley

    about 1 hr each way Night in Lachung

    An early start for Yumthang, its meadows and hot springs, with Zero Point as an option if the road is open. Back to Lachung for the night.

  5. Day 5: Lachung to Gangtok

    about 6 hrs Night in Gangtok

    Down to Gangtok, with time on the way for the viewpoints you missed. Last evening in the capital.

  6. Day 6: Departure

    about 4½ to 5 hrs Departure

    Back down to NJP or Bagdogra for your onward journey.

Usually included

  • Hotel or homestay accommodation in the category you choose, on twin sharing
  • Breakfast and dinner at every stay (MAP), unless you ask for a different plan
  • A private vehicle with a local driver for all transfers and sightseeing, point to point
  • Pick-up and drop at NJP railway station or Bagdogra airport
  • Protected-area permits applied for by us, where the route needs them

  • Entrance, camera and guide fees, and parking
  • Lunch, drinks, tips, laundry and other personal expenses
  • Vehicle use or sightseeing outside the itinerary, and add-ons such as Zero Point or Nathu La unless listed
  • Extra costs from landslides, road closures, strikes or flight changes
  • Travel insurance and room-heater charges

What sets the price

We do not publish a fixed price, because the same itinerary costs very differently in May and in February, in a standard room and a mountain-view suite. Your quote depends on:

  • SeasonSpring, autumn and holidays cost more than the quiet months.
  • Hotel categoryStandard, deluxe or premium, and whether rooms face the view.
  • VehicleSedan, SUV or a larger vehicle for groups; reserved or shared.
  • Group sizeMore travellers share the vehicle and lower the cost per head.
  • Add-onsZero Point, Nathu La, the toy train or a guide where needed.
