Day by day

  1. Day 1: Arrive and drive up to Gangtok

    about 120 km, 4½ to 5 hrs Night in Gangtok

    We meet you at NJP railway station or Bagdogra airport and drive up the Teesta valley to Gangtok. Check in and walk down to M.G. Marg for the evening.

  2. Day 2: Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir & Nathu La

    about 55 km each way Night in Gangtok

    An early start east to Tsomgo Lake, then on to Baba Mandir and, for Indian nationals with a permit, Nathu La on the border. Nathu La is usually closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and the army can close any of the road for weather; if it does, we plan alternative sightseeing.

  3. Day 3: Gangtok sightseeing

    local, about 6 hrs Night in Gangtok

    Tashi viewpoint early for the mountain view, then Ganesh Tok, Hanuman Tok, the Flower Show, the Institute of Tibetology, the Do-drul Chorten and Enchey Monastery. The ropeway if you like.

  4. Day 4: Departure

    about 4½ to 5 hrs Departure

    After breakfast we drive you back down to NJP or Bagdogra for your onward journey.

  • Hotel or homestay accommodation in the category you choose, on twin sharing
  • Breakfast and dinner at every stay (MAP), unless you ask for a different plan
  • A private vehicle with a local driver for all transfers and sightseeing, point to point
  • Pick-up and drop at NJP railway station or Bagdogra airport
  • Protected-area permits applied for by us, where the route needs them

Not included

  • Train and air fares
  • Entrance, camera and guide fees, and parking
  • Lunch, drinks, tips, laundry and other personal expenses
  • Vehicle use or sightseeing outside the itinerary, and add-ons such as Zero Point or Nathu La unless listed
  • Extra costs from landslides, road closures, strikes or flight changes
  • Travel insurance and room-heater charges

What sets the price

We do not publish a fixed price, because the same itinerary costs very differently in May and in February, in a standard room and a mountain-view suite. Your quote depends on:

  • SeasonSpring, autumn and holidays cost more than the quiet months.
  • Hotel categoryStandard, deluxe or premium, and whether rooms face the view.
  • VehicleSedan, SUV or a larger vehicle for groups; reserved or shared.
  • Group sizeMore travellers share the vehicle and lower the cost per head.
  • Add-onsZero Point, Nathu La, the toy train or a guide where needed.
